FAQ
Are Gloss Toner colours acidic?
Yes, Gloss Toners are a zero-lift formula with an acidic pH (averages at 6.7 pH).
Are Gloss Toner colours progressive?
No, Gloss Toners are not progressive. They will not get darker if left on hair longer than the standard processing time.
Can I apply Gloss Toners on top of Danger Jones semi-permanent colours?
This is not recommended as it could compromise the semi-permanent colour and longevity. It’s best to tone with Gloss Toners first, then apply semi-permanent colours.
Can I apply Gloss Toners after permanent colour?
Yes, it’s the perfect way to add extra shine, tone and condition to the hair after a permanent colour service.
Can I mix Gloss Toner colours together to create a different tone?
Yes, you can mix any of the Gloss Toner colours together to make different tones and/or levels.
Can I mix Gloss Toners 1:2 instead of the recommended 1:1 ratio?
Yes, you can mix as a 1:2 ratio (colour to developer). However, keep in mind this will dilute the tonality and longevity.
Can I use a different developer with Gloss Toners?
The Gloss Toner Developer was specially designed to be used with Gloss Toners. It is not recommended to use another developer because it will change the consistency and may undermine the colour results.
Does it really develop in just 10 minutes?
Yes, full colour deposit is achieved in just 10 minutes, saving time for the professional and client. The recommended leave time in the hair is 3 – 10 minutes.
Do I need to shampoo Gloss Toners out of the hair after processing?
Yes, since Gloss Toners are oxidative, you shampoo them out.
Is resorcinol and/or PPD in the formula?
Yes, some colours (not all) have resorcinol and PPD in the formula. The end goal is to remove them from all colours and, but that will take some time. Danger Jones started with them in some colours because it makes the formula more stable with deposit, shine, depth and tone. Once comfortable those key things won’t be compromised by changing the formula, Danger Jones will adjust to a full Gloss Toner line without those two ingredients.
